Reset Product Activation Limit
I had a major Windows system meltdown the other day, which required me to refresh Windows 8.1 (64 bit). That entailed me having to re-install ShadowProtect (5.x).
Unfortunately, I cannot activate the product because it wasn't deactivated before the Windows refresh process deleted it.
How do I go about getting the activation for my desktop system released so I can activate the newly reinstalled product?

Very Slow Incremental Backup
I recently had to re-install SP because I had to do a refresh on my Win8.1 64 bit system. Backups are being created, but I'm concerned that one of them is taking much longer than it used to before the re-install.
The hard drive has roughly 1TB of data on it, but it changes relatively slowly, so while full backups to my NAS take 4 or 5 hours, the incremental ones usually take about 5 minutes. Last night, however, the first incremental took 6.5 hours.

Upgrading to latest version 5.2.3 of Shadow Protect desktop
Hi all, - I have a fully paid for version 5.1.5xxxxx and I see that version 5.2.3 is out.
The download blurb talks about trial periods and buying a new maintenance agreement.
Does this mean I don't get to download and install upgrades free of charge?

SP 5.x has not been updated for several months, but I notice that the new SPX for Windows is identified as version 6. Is SPX the replacement for SP desktop?

The latest update to Shadow Protect is called ShadowProtect SPX 6.x. There will be no more upgrades of SPD. This accroding to Ryan at STC

Differential-as-full backups in SPX
I note that it is possible to upgrade from ShadowProtect 5 to SPX and retain existing job settings. However, when reading the SPX user guide, I can find no mention of an Advanced Option to specifiy Second and subsequent full backups are differentials when Creating a Backup Job. Does this mean that my existing backup job settings are or are not retained during such upgrade?

ShadowProtect and Tablets
Surprisingly, ShadowProtect Desktop does not support tablets, as stated in the ReadMe documentation: “ShadowProtect currently does not support any tablet OS, including Windows 8 (such as the Surface Pro).”
To StorageCraft: What are the root cause reasons why ShadowProtect Desktop is unsupported for tablets running Windows 8, such as the Microsoft Surface Pro (which functions similar to a laptop)?

I deleted the backup job and want to recreate the same job using the same spi and spf sequence so we can continues on as if has nothing happened.

ShadowProtect Desktop 4.2.7 - VSS API errors
Hello,
I still use SPD 4.2.7, because its was working like a charm. No need to upgrade.
Windows 8 made the free upgrade to Windows 10, and now my backups failed.

Windows 10 and Event ID 513 CAPI2
Hi folks
Since upgrading Windows 8.1 Pro (64bit) to Windows 10 Pro (64bit) I've been getting the following error in the Event Log (ID 513) which coincides with each Shadow Protect backup. The backups appear to be functioning correctly.
Here's the error description:
Cryptographic Services failed while processing the OnIdentity() call in the System Writer Object.
Details:
AddLegacyDriverFiles: Unable to back up image of binary Microsoft Link-Layer Discovery Protocol.
System Error:
Access is denied.

Can I restore SSD image to HDD using SPD?
I want to restore an image of my SSD (500GB) that is my Win 8.1 boot drive to a HDD (1TB) in the same machine.
Can I do that with SPD running in Win 8.1?
Or do I have to use the RE?
In either case what options do I need to use for the restore?

pre-snapshot command for mounting the backup device fails
I try to make my system more secure by unmounting the backup-device until it is needed.
But mounting the device by the backup-job's feature calling a pre-snapshot command fails.
Looks like because the backup-device is unmounted storagecraft doesn't find the information expected .
The solution could be running the before-script before other checks.
My hope is I did something wrong and there is a possible workaround.

Restore to SSD from HDD on Lenovo W510
This is my first use of SP for this besides the usual backup/clone in case of emergency. Lenovo laptops seem to have some secret sauce that enable some of the utilities to work such as the thinkvantage button. I think one partiton is for factory default restore that I don't deem essential. I hope to find some guidance as to how to set up the new SSD to keep the Lenovo about as is. SP sees

VirtualBoot and VMware Workstation 11.
I know VirtualBoot can use VirtualBox but why not VMware Workstation? Is it a licensing thing and StorageCraft doesn't want to pay any fees? Is there is a way to use VMware someone can share?
