Hi folks:
I've been using ShadowProtect desktop for a few years, currently 5.2.0.
I'm unable to get Microsoft's latest Visual Studio to work. I suspect because all of the crap left behind by previous versions of that software that remain after I uninstalled each version of the software and installed the next.
So I want to re-install my operating system's partition.
Attempts to deactivate my ShadowProtect licnse, so I can activate it after a new build, have been frustrating.
What's a Disconnected License?
My system crashed hard yesterday so my sister has allowed me to use her's.
I decided to do her a "favor" and update ShadowProtect Desktop.
Everything seems to have to have gone well, no errors or warnings.
Now this is the window I see when I start ShadowProtect:

The only wizard available is the Explorer Backup.
Backup disc failed to write properly, lost license key, need files ASAP. Help.
The backup disc for opening my backup files failed to write properly and now I'm left without access to my files.
I have a presentation in the morning.
I do not have my license key as I do not have access to the computer, and when I try to create a ticket it asks for the key.

How to create a destination to Sylology NAS ?
I want to back up my data to Synology NAS ,but I cant create the destination. (Software is ShadowProtect 5.2.3)
Add > Network Share> Destination Path > Browse > Entire Network > NAS. I can find my NAS in local LAN without any folder.

ShadowProtect 5.0.4 backup scheduling service failure
Symptoms:
- SP silently stops executing scheduled backups on an irregular basis (e.g. sometimes runs for weeks, sometimes quits every 3-4 days.)
- All prior backup jobs successfully triggered by SP service and successfully completed as indicated by final status and detailed event log for each job.
- Weekly email backup reports continue to be sent, indicating the date(s) on which backup jobs did not occur. First indication of the problem.

Does Shadow Protect use the Windows Task Scheduler?
I need to write a command file that runs a minutes before my incremental backup job. I am running Windows 10 and I made a list of SCHTASKS but Shadow Protect did not appear among them (to get its next execution time).

Volumes all at once?
I heard a recommendation to include all volumes in a backup job.
Take for example this small-office server.
It has a C volume, which rarely changes much.
And it has an I volume, which is data, and changes very often.
Currently, I have 2 backup jobs:
- Job 1: I back up I (data) several times a day. (Not Continuious incrementals)
- Job 2: I back up C, once-a-month.
Should these 2 jobs be merged into 1 job?
Should Image Manager be used in this environment - to validate disk files?
This question pertains to a site that is backing up to a local USB drive:
The site is not doing Continuous Incrementals.
This site is not using CMD EndPoint
ImageManager (IM) is installed on this machine and is ONLY being used as follows:
IM is not doing Replication
IM is not doing Consolidation
However IM is "managing" the backup folder.
Here's my question:
Can StorageCraft recover files from backup sets that fail to mount/verify?
A backup set was made with shadow protect of an 8TB partition and although the md5 matches it wont mount and fails the verification (500 chunk failed due to malformed data even though it passes the md5). I did this on a stand alone workstation with trial version (v4, big mistake) as I had no space on the servers and now need the data back. Can any of StorageCrafts software or team help recover data from the image set if one file wont verify?
Windows 10 Shadow Protect SPX service will not run
Hi
New PC. Win 10 Pro x64. if 6th gen 8 GB RAM.
SPX service will not start.
Have uninstalled and reinstalled.
SFC and DISM all pass.
Please help.
Logged a case in the Storage Craft webform. 4.5 hours later, no response from Storage Craft.

Shrink Volume size
Hello, I use to be able to shrink volume size from an image taken form a larger drive to a smaller drive, by mounting the image and creating a incremental spi. I was using the Recovery environment Win PE Version. Knowledge base article 152
Currenly I am using the cross platform version, (which has a better driver base) I still receive errors even with a large drive. Are there any updated articles I am missing?

Recovery Environment 64-Bit UEFI mode not working
Hello dear community,
I recently updated my StorageCraft Recovery environment USB stick to 64-bit and tried to load it with BIOS set to UEFI mode. I own an ASUS Z170 Deluxe mainboard and therefore disabled the CSM compatibility support mode to boot plainly in UEFI mode.
The stick is recognized correctly. I built it with the Recovery Environment builder set to 64-bit.
But when booting I get the Windows Boot Manager screen indicating error code 0xc000000f whicht states that the boot configuration is missing or is corrupted.
How do I solve this problem?
Bad Image Password
Hello,
I have run into a maddening problem. I have just tried to do a system restore and I can't get past the password stage. The reason being is because my password contains a UK pound sign £ and the Recovery Enviroment only recognises a US keyboard. Is there any way around this?

Event ID 260
In my event viewer I have a warning error in the Administrative section, Event 260, Source STCVSM, "While re-activating on \Device\HarddiskVolume2, VDIFF has detected that previous boot session ended with a crash. VDIFF is terminated."
An internet site (http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=260&eventno=11356&source=stcv... ) suggests that this relates to Storage Craft.
So can you tell me if this is related to my Shadow Proetct desktop software and if so, what do I need to do to prevent it from showing on the event log?
Recovering On New System?
I'm performing a fresh install of Win 10. So I'll be creating new accounts, with their old user names. Most of these accounts won't have admin rights, but will have their own passwords.
Bitlocker doesn't seem to recognize the password for my hard drives, but it does unlock my thumb drives for some reason.
That's ok, I should wipe and re-install the contents of those drives anyway, just to de-fragment them. Of course I backed up the drives to two different external drives before starting the Win 10 install.
